Our Story
Our name 'House of Cards' was inspired by the gamble winemakers and growers take every vintage- you have to play the hand that you are dealt. All fruit used to make House of Cards wine comes from our certified organic single vineyard situated on the iconic Caves Road at the northern end of the Margaret River Region in Western Australia.
Making handcrafted wines of exceptional quality is the sole priority of House of Cards.
Travis Wray
After 5 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a Clearance Diver, Travis decided to study Viticulture and Oenology at Curtin University and graduated in 2007. He has honed his Winemaking and Vineyard knowledge working in Margaret River for Amberley Estate, Vasse Felix and Fermoy Estate and overseas during vintages at Waimea Estate (Nelson, NZ) and Sumac Ridge (Okanagan Valley, BC, Canada).
This young winemaker is innovative and utilizes best known practices as well as experimenting with small batches and blocks to ensure that he is one step ahead of the rest. Travis is very competitive and strives for perfection in the vineyard and winery. He hopes you enjoy his ripper wines!
Elizabeth Wray
Elizabeth graduated from Curtin University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) and Graduate Diploma in Education. She was a Primary School teacher for three years before being convinced to go on a 16 month wine odyssey with Travis through New Zealand, USA and Canada visiting all the major wine regions and taking notes.
Elizabeth has been involved with the wine industry for a number of years. Hardworking and charismatic, Elizabeth is the driving force behind House of Cards marketing and sales. You will often catch Elizabeth and her little boys in cellar door.
